How to Fix a Windows XP DLL


Reinstall Software
1. Examine the message produced by the DLL error. Click on 'Start,' then 'Control Panel.' Click on 'Classic View' in the left column if applicable.
2. Double-click 'Add/Remove Programs.' Double-click the program that is experiencing the error and uninstall it.
3. Restart the computer. Start the program's installer by double-clicking on the EXE file or inserting the installation disk. Follow the onscreen prompts to reinstall the program.
Update Windows
4. Click on 'Start,' then 'Control Panel.' Click on 'Classic View' in the left column if applicable.
5. Double-click 'Windows Update.' Allow Windows Update to install all critical updates.
6. Restart the computer if prompted. Continue to install updates until your computer has the latest service pack, hotfixes and other security updates.
Use System Restore
7. Log in to an administrator-level account.
8. Click on 'Start,' 'All Programs,' 'Accessories,' 'System Tools' and 'System Restore.'
9. Choose the most recent restore point created prior to experiencing DLL errors. Click 'Next.' Click 'OK.'
10. Click 'Next' to confirm that you wish to perform a system restore.
11. Log in to an administrator-level account after the computer restarts. Click 'OK.'
