The Defrag in Vista Won#039;t Work


Register the Components
1. Click 'Start,' and then 'All Programs.'
2. Click the 'Accessories' folder.
3. Right-click 'Command Prompt,' and select 'Run as Administrator.'
4. Type or paste each command listed below separately into the prompt. Press the 'Enter' key after each entry and click the 'OK' button on the dialog box.regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dllregsvr32 dfrgui.dllregsvr32 msxml3.dll
5. Close the command prompt and restart the computer.
Correct Registry Path
6. Click 'Start,' and then 'Search.'
7. Type 'Regedit' without the quotes.
8. Press the 'Enter' key.
9. Click 'Edit,' then 'Find.'
10. Type 'DefragPath' without the quotes.
11. Click the 'Find Next' button.
12. Double-click 'Default' in the right-pane of the registry.
13. Type 'C:\Windows\System32\dfrgui.exe' without the quotes, in the 'Value Data' box.
14. Click the 'OK' button.
15. Close the registry editor and restart your computer.
