How to Fix OLEAUT32.dll

System Restore
1. Click on the 'Start' button at the bottom of your desktop. This opens the Start menu. Select 'All programs' then 'Accessories' from the Start menu.
2. Choose 'System Tools' from the options in Accessories and click 'System Restore' from the System Tools menu.
3. Select 'Restore my computer to an earlier time' from the options on the System Restore start page. This will bring up a calendar with bold dates. The bold dates represent restore points.
4. Move to a date prior to the error. For example, if you started receiving the error on Tuesday, select the previous Monday. Click the 'Next' button to begin the restoration process. Click 'Finish' to complete the system restore.
Windows Update
5. Open the Windows Download Center in Internet Explorer (see Resources). This program will only run in Internet Explorer and will not work in other browser programs, such as Firefox.
6. Select 'Microsoft Update' from the options available on the right side of the Windows Download Center screen.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the operating system for your computer. Reboot the computer if prompted.
8. Go to the homepage or source for any software installed after the restore point and re-install the program. Ensure you are installing the most current version of the software. Windows update will add a program to the operating system that prevents the overwriting of the OLEAUT32.dll with an older version.
