How to Debug ActiveX DLL


1. Go to one of the many online DLL libraries (see Resources).
2. Download the ActiveX DLL and save it to your 'Windows\System32' folder. Alternatively, you can download the ActiveX DLL and save it to your desktop and then drag the DLL into your 'Windows\System32' folder.
3. Click the 'Start' menu and type 'Run' into the 'Search Files and Folders' box and press 'Enter.' Or, if you are using a version of Windows prior to Vista, click the 'Start' menu and then click 'Run.' The Run tool opens.
4. Type 'cmd' into the 'Open' box and click 'OK.' The Command Prompt opens.
5. Type 'regsvr32 ActiveX.dll' (without the quotation marks) into the Command Prompt and press 'Enter.'
6. Click 'Yes' to confirm that you wish to register the DLL.
7. Close the Command Prompt and restart your computer.

How to Fix Computer Viruses amp; Worms for Free


End Infected Processes
1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
2. Click on the "Task Manager," and then click on the "Processes" tab.
3. End all of the processes associated with the virus or worm. To end a process, right-click on it and select "End Process." To determine if a process is associated with the virus or worm, type the name of the process into the Process Library.
Delete Infected DLL Files
4. Hold down the Windows key and press "R." The "Run" box opens.
5. Type "cmd" (without the quotation marks) into the command prompt, and click "OK." The command prompt opens.
6. Type “regsvr32 /u SampleDLLName.dll" into the Command Prompt and press ENTER. Note that "SampleDLLName.dll" should be replaced with the name of the Dynamic Link Library (DLL) file associated with the virus or worm. To find this information, type the name of the virus or worm into the 411-Spyware search box.
Delete Infected Files
7. Click on the "Start" menu.
8. Click on "Search Programs and Files."
9. Search for and delete all files associated with the virus or worm. To delete a file, right-click on it and select "Delete." Often, the associated files will include the name of the virus or worm followed by a series of random numbers or letters. To find a complete list of associated files, type the name of the virus or worm into the 411-Spyware search box.
Delete Infected Registry Entries
10. Hold down the Windows key and press "R." The "Run" box opens.
11. Type "regedit" (without the quotation marks) into the "Run" box and click "OK." The Registry Editor opens.
12. Locate all of the registry entries associated with the virus or worm in the left pane of the Registry Editor and delete them. To delete a registry entry, right-click on it and select "Delete." To find a list of the registry entries associated with the virus or worm, type the name of the virus or worm into the 411-Spyware search box.

How to Add


1. Open your Web browser, and visit the official Microsoft download page for the Microsoft Access Snapshot Viewer add-in (see References).
2. Click 'Download' to download the executable file that installs the add-in to your computer's hard drive.
3. Double-click the executable file.
4. Click 'Next.' The Snapshot Viewer add-in will be installed onto your copy of Microsoft Access 2007.

How to Fix a NSIS Error


1. Go to 'Start,' click on 'Run,' type 'cmd' in the text box, and then click on 'OK.'
2. On to the black window that opens up, click and drag the software installation file icon that you wish to install. For example, suppose you want install Google Talk on your computer and the setup file (googletalk-setup.exe) is stored in the 'C:\\Software' folder. Click and drag the 'googletalk-setup.exe' icon from the Software folder, onto the black window. Once you have dragged it, the entire path (C:\\Software\\googletalk-setup.exe) shows up on the black screen.
3. Press the spacebar on your keyboard and type '/NCRC'. In our example, 'C:\\Software\\googletalk-setup.exe /NCRC'.
4. Press 'Enter.' The setup program will start now.

How to Fix Windows Registry


System Restore
1. Go to 'Start,' and point to 'All Programs,' point to 'Accessories,' point to 'System Tools,' and then click on 'System Restore.'
2. In the 'System Restore' wizard that opens up, select the 'Restore my computer to earlier time' option and then click 'Next.'
3. Select a 'Restore point' to restore your computer to and then click 'Next.'
4. In the 'Confirm restore point selection,' click 'Next' to complete System Restore.
Recovery Console
5. Insert the Windows XP Setup CD into the CD drive, and then restart your computer.
6. When you see the 'Welcome to Setup' screen, press 'R' to start the Recovery Console.
7. If you have more than one operating system installed on your computer, select Windows XP from the displayed list.
8. In the Recovery Console, type the following lines one by one and then press Enter. Here we are assuming that Windows XP is installed in the 'D' drive. If Windows XP is installed in another drive on your computer, you replace 'D' with that letter.md tmp

How to Add the Microsoft Date amp; Time Picker in Excel 2007


1. Download Microsoft Windows Common Controls-2 6.0 from the Microsoft website.
2. Extract the .cab file's contents. Newer Windows versions open .cab files directly. Older versions need extraction software such as WinZip or WinRAR.
3. Run the 'mscomct2.bat' file. This installs the Microsoft Date & Time Picker.
4. In Excel, click the Office button on the screen's top left corner. Select 'Excel Options.' The 'Excel Options' window will open.
5. Click 'Popular' from the top of the left column.
6. Check the box next to 'Show Developer tab in the Ribbon.' Close the window. Excel's ribbon now contains the Developer tab to the far right.
7. Click on the Developer tab to show its controls. Click the 'Insert' button, and select the bottom right icon, which shows additional ActiveX controls. The 'More Controls' window will open.
8. Choose 'Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control 6.0 (SP4)' and close the window. Your mouse cursor will turn into cross hairs.
9. Click and drag anywhere on your spreadsheet to create a date box.

How to Install Microsoft Outlook With a Language Error


1. Insert your Microsoft Outlook installation disc into the CD/DVD-ROM drive of your computer. Let Windows load the disc and generate a pop-up setup wizard.
2. Click 'Next' to proceed. Choose the 'Repair' option in the 'Change your installation' window. Wait until Microsoft Outlook installs additional data, including the translator files that were missing previously.
3. Follow the on-screen guided prompts to complete the repair procedure. Click 'Finish' when prompted. Eject the installation CD and restart your computer. Go to the next step if you still experience the same language error.
4. Click the 'Start' menu and type 'MSOCache' in the search box. Right-click the 'MSOCache' folder from the search results and choose 'Delete.' Repeat Step 1 through Step 4.

How to Fix a Shdoclc.dll Error


1. Download shdoclc.dll for free from DLL-files.com. Scroll down the page and click 'Click here to go to the download of schdoclc.dll.' A new window will load from which you should click 'Download shdoclc.dll.' The file will now download as a zip file.
2. Open the downloaded zip file. This requires a zip software to extract the file. If you don't have one currently installed on the computer, you can download WinZip at WinZip.com.
3. Extract and then open the file. It will now be installed back onto the computer and there should no longer be any more errors regarding the shdoclc.dll file.

How to Fix Faultrep Dll


1. Download the Faultrep.dll file (see 'Resources').
2. Right-click the saved DLL file and click 'Copy.' Go to the 'Start' menu, click 'Computer,' double-click the 'C:' drive, double-click the 'Windows' folder and then the 'System32' folder. Right-click anywhere in a blank space and click 'Paste.'
3. Go to the 'Start' menu, type 'run' in the 'Start Search' box and press 'Enter.' Type Regsvr32 'C:\Windows\System32\faultrep.dll' in the search field and hit 'Enter' to register the DLL. Click 'Yes' in the pop-up to confirm the registration.
4. Restart your computer.

How to Run DLL as an Application Error Fix


Boot into Safe Mode
1. Save your work, and restart the computer.
2. Press and hold down the 'F8' key as your computer is starting back up. Release the 'F8' key when you reach the 'Advanced Boot Options' menu screen.
3. Use the 'Arrow' keys to select 'Safe Mode with Command Prompt,' and then press 'Enter.' This loads Windows in Command Prompt mode.
Repair the Host File and Any Other Damaged Files
4. Insert the Windows disc into your computer.
5. Type 'Takeown /f Rundll32.exe' and press 'Enter.'
6. Type 'icacls Rundll32.exe /grant administrators:F' and press 'Enter.' This command grants you full control over the host file.
7. Type 'Rename 'Rundll32.exe Rundll32.Bak' and press 'Enter.' This creates a backup of the host file while simultaneously removing the executable from the system directory. This allows your repair utility to detect that it is missing and ensures it is rebuilt.
8. Type 'SFC /Scanfile=C:\Windows\System32\Rundll32.exe' and press 'Enter.' This launches a System File Check. The utility determines the file is missing and rebuilds a clean copy.
9. Type 'SFC /Scannow' and press 'Enter.' This will scan all system files and repair or replace any damaged ones. Wait until the utility has notified you of completion.
10. Remove the Windows disc from your drive. Type 'Exit' and press 'Enter' to restart Windows.

How to Add an OCX to Access 2007


1. Double-click your Access database file on your computer. This opens the Access software and your database simultaneously.
2. Click the 'Create' tab at the top of your window. Click 'Macro,' then select 'Other' and click 'Macro' in this sub-menu. This opens a configuration window.
3. Click the 'Design' tab. In this tab, click 'Show All Actions.' Click 'RunCommand' to start the macro creation wizard.

How to Restore DLL Files


Restore DLL Files in Your System Directory
1. Navigate to a site that provides DLL downloads, such as DLL-files.com or DLL Files (dlldll.com). In the Search box, type in the name of the DLL file that you want to download.
2. Make sure that JavaScript and pop-up windows are enabled in your Web browser. Click the Download link for the DLL file that you want. The downloaded link is likely to be in a compressed, .zip format.
3. Extract the DLL file. In some versions of Windows, you'll need to use an external file extractor such as WinZip or WinRAR to extract the zipped DLL file.
4. Place the extracted file in the directory of the program that is requesting the file. If that doesn't work, extract the file to your system directory, when prompted. Here are the locations for the different operating systems:C:\Windows\System32 for Windows 7, Vista, XP.
C:\Windows\ for Windows 95/98/ME.
C:\WINNT\System32 for Windows NT/2000.Programs on your PC can now access the DLL file from the your system directory.
Install the DLL File in the Program's Directory
5. If the problem still occurs, navigate to the "Start" menu and select "Run."
6. Type "regsvr32" (without quotes) in the applicable field. Hit the spacebar on the keyboard.
7. Type the DLL file name along with the suffix ".DLL," (without quotes) and press "Enter." The DLL installation is completed.
