How to Restore Hal.Dll on Windows XP Home


1. Insert the Windows XP CD and restart your computer.
2. Press the 'R' key when you see the message that states 'Press R to repair Windows.' This brings you to a command line.
3. Type 'Bootcfg /rebuild' and press 'Enter.'
4. Type 'Y' on the 'Add installation to boot list?' screen.
5. Type 'Windows XP Home Edition' on the 'Enter Load Identifier' screen. Leave the 'Enter OS Load Options' field blank.
6. Press 'Enter.'
7. Type 'CHKDSK /r' and press 'Enter.' This will check the disk and its contents for errors and attempt to repair them. You will be notified when it has completed.
8. Remove the CD.
9. Type 'Exit' to restart your computer.
