How to Repair a Missing NTLDR for Windows XP

1. Understand the causes of missing NTLDR errors. One of the most common reasons for an NTLDR-based startup error occurs when Windows XP attempts to start from a hard drive that isn't set up to launch Windows XP. For example, you may encounter an NTLDR error if you attempt to boot from an improperly formatted Windows XP startup disk. These errors may also be caused by corrupt, missing hard drive data and loose hardware cables.
2. Click the Start menu button in the lower left-hand corner of the Windows XP screen. Select 'Restart' to reboot the PC.
3. Check that the computer's optical media drives are empty. A major cause of NTLDR errors is when a non-startup disk is in the CD slot and Windows XP attempts to launch from it.
4. Insert the Windows XP installation disk. Restart the computer. Press any key on your keyboard during the startup process to launch the installation setup screen. Press the 'R' key on your keyboard when the Windows XP Setup screen appears. This launches the Windows XP Recovery Console program and a screen in which you can type command prompts.
5. Type 'copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\' (without quotation marks) in the command prompt window, then press the Enter key on your keyboard. Type 'copy d:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\' (without quotation marks), and press the Enter key again. The Windows XP Setup software will detect and replace any NTLDR software files that may be missing or corrupt.
6. Press the 'Y' key on your keyboard if the Windows XP Setup software asks for permission to rewrite and replace the files in Step 5.
7. Eject the Windows XP installation disk by pressing the Eject button on the front of your computer. Type 'exit' (without quotation marks) in the command prompt window to close the Setup software, then press the Enter key on your keyboard to restart the PC. Windows XP will now launch without missing NTLDR errors.

How to Fix the 1087 Syntax Error With Game Movement in Flash CS3

1. Press 'F9' on your keyboard to open the 'Actions' window. Look through your code on the right-hand side of the window to ensure that there are no spelling errors or wrong symbols. Ensure all of your code blocks have opening braces, similar to this: '{', and a closing brace, similar to this: '}' (always without quotation marks).
2. Remove any extra closing braces at the end of your code blocks, as this can also be a cause for the 1087 syntax error. Every code block should only have one opening and one closing brace. Press 'CTRL' + 'ENTER' to run your code and ensure the syntax error has been resolved.
3. Ensure the ActionScript code you want to compile for game movement matches the ActionScript version you want to publish. If using ActionScript 2.0 code, for example, then your publish settings must be on ActionScript 2.0 and not ActionScript 3.
4. Click 'File' and choose'Publish settings,' then choose the 'Flash' tab. From the drop-down menu next to 'Script,' select the ActionScript version that matches the code you are using for your game movement. Click 'OK,' then press 'CTRL' + 'ENTER' to run your code check if the syntax error has been resolved.

How to Fix a Runtime Error 8005

1. Type the following command in Visual Basic if this is where you have received the runtime error code. Within the programming language, change 'SummaSketch.PortOpen = True' to SummaSketch.PortOpen = False.' This is a common cause of receiving the runtime error 8005.
2. Open the 'Device Manager' in Visual Basic. Scan your computer for any potential hardware changes through this menu. At this time, you should also disable any devices that you are not using in the program. Restart the program and try to open the port again in Visual Basic.
3. Close other applications. Another potential cause of the runtime error 8005 is that another application is using the same port at that time. Shut down any other applications you have running to see if this will fix the problem.
4. Restart the PC, reopen Visual Basic and try to open the port once again. Many times, the runtime error 8005 will appear after a cold boot.
5. Receive help from another source. If none of these methods fix runtime error 8005, you may need to get in touch with other programmers in order to trace whether you are entering codes incorrectly into Visual Basic. A good place to look for assistance is through the Visual Basics Forums on VB Wire.
