How to Fix a PDF.OCX Error

1. Enable support for the PDF.OCX ActiveX control. You will get PDF.OCX errors if support for this control is disabled. Click “Start,” type “manage add-ons” into the search box and press “Enter.” Next, click “Manage Add-ons." Select “Adobe Acrobat Control for ActiveX” and click the radio button next to “Enabled.” Click “Close” to save the changes.
2. Repair the Adobe Acrobat Reader installation. Click the “Help” option on the Adobe Acrobat Reader menu bar and select “Detect and Repair.” If the PDF.OCX error was due to a corrupt Adobe Acrobat Reader installation, repairing it will resolve the issue.
3. Update Adobe Acrobat Reader to a newer version such as Adobe Reader 10. Adobe removed the PDF.OCX control after Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0, so updating to a newer version can eliminate PDF.OCX errors. You can download the latest version of Adobe Reader from Adobe.com, but you must remove the current installation via the Windows Control Panel before you install the new version.
