How to Fix a Direct 3D Render Error

Download a Signed Graphics Driver
1. Press the 'Windows' and 'R' keys simultaneously. This opens a 'Run' box.
2. Type 'Devmgmt.msc' in the 'Run' box and press 'Enter.' This opens the 'Device Manager' in a new window.
3. Click 'Display Adapters' and then right-click your adapter. Click 'Update Driver Software.' This opens a new dialog on your screen.
4. Click 'Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software.' This searches for and downloads a Microsoft-approved graphics driver.
Update DirectX
5. Visit the Microsoft DirectX Download Center (see Resources).
6. Download the 'DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer' by clicking the blue 'Download' button.
7. Click the 'Run' button on the 'Do you want to run or save...' dialog. This downloads the updater and loads a 'Welcome to Setup for DirectX' dialog.
8. Click 'I Accept the Agreement' and then click the 'Next' button. This initiates the automated installer.
9. Click the 'Finish' button on the 'Installation Complete' window. Try to start the game; continue reading if the error continues.
Reinstall Game
10. Press the 'Windows' and 'R' keys simultaneously.
11. Type 'Appwiz.cpl' in the 'Run' box and click the 'OK' button. This opens a new window on your screen.
12. Right-click on your game and click 'Uninstall.' Click the 'Yes' button on the confirmation.
13. Press the 'Windows' and 'R' keys simultaneously. Type 'C:\Program Files' and press the 'Enter' key. This opens a window containing your program file folders. Ensure that the uninstall process deleted the game folder. If the game folder is still there, right-click the folder and click 'Delete.'
14. Insert your game installation disc and follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall. If your game includes a DirectX redistributable, click 'Yes' on the 'Do you want to install DirectX?' screen.
Run Game as Administrator
15. Right-click the shortcut you use to launch the game and click 'Properties.'
16. Click the 'Compatibility' tab.
17. Click in the box next to 'Run This Program as an Administrator' and then click the 'Apply' button. Launch the game.
