1. Click 'Start.' Type 'system' in the 'Search' box and click on 'System' in the programs list. Note whether you use a 64- or 32-bit operating system under the 'System type' heading.
2. Return to the search box. Search for 'msvcp71.dll.' If the file is found, right-click on it and select 'Copy'. If no file is located you need to do a web search for Msvcp71.dll and download the file. Once downloaded, right-click and copy the file.
3. Click 'Start,' 'Computer,' '(Local Disk) C:' and 'Windows.' Click 'System 32' if you have a 32-bit operating system and 'Syswow64' if yours is a 64-bit system. Right-click inside the open folder and click 'Paste.' The file has now been copied to the correct location.
